Iphone Cases

I'm currently using a Kate Spade case and it's been great, I've dropped my phone several times and the case has taken all the beating.  The corners have chipped, but just a little.  I'm trying to decide on a new case, but I don't know what I want!  Of course there's classic Kate Spade in a different pattern, J. Crew cases, although I would probably only use those for certain occasions, they're not very protective, or, a custom Otterbox like the ones from Marley Lilly! Adorable, monogramable, and protective.  I think I'll continue to check around but these are some to consider!

My Fitness Pal

So, Jason is on this diet losing weight for a weight loss competition where he works.  He started using this Iphone app called My Fitness Pal and it was really helping so I decided to start using it, just as a way to see everything I was taking in during the day.

Not to mention, my husband, with marathon training, lost 26 pounds in 10 weeks! Go Jason!

Some really great things about it:
1. Based on your current weight and how much you want to lose in a time period you choose, the app tells you how many calories you can consume, even without exercising if you choose.

2. It has a HUGE inventory of food, you can literally type in anything from a restaurant dish to Sara Lee Bread and it will pop up with the regular servings that you can adjust.

3. You can also scan the barcode on something and the item will pop right up for you.

4. You can add your friends that have the app and can see their weight loss progress too, and comment, it's a lot like Twitter!

5. Not only does it keep up with your calories but also all of the little nutrition facts on a label like sugar, sodium, fats, etc. and whether you're under or over what you should be taking in.

6. If you do any exercise, you can also put that in and gain calories back, another incentive for exercising!

7. If you don't have an Iphone or other phone that supports the app, you can do it all online!

This is where you can check your weekly progress, yikes, monday was a big calorie day.

This is what a day will look like as you add the food you eat.

You can also check your nutrition details here, just because something is 0 calories, like Kosher Dill Pickle Spears, doesn't mean it isn't full of sodium!

Leather Leggings

On my fall wishlist, leather/faux leather leggings.  They can be so chic if worn right, and also is the fabric doesn't look like a cheap sofa.  I found a few options at a couple different price points and all look fairly wearable.  The H&M pair look slightly superhero-ish in the picture but you can never tell what an item is really like based on the online picture.

Closet Classics

I found this on Pinterest and I think it's got a pretty good range of "classics".  Of course you can always use more than one of most of these items, but it's a good place to start.

The only thing I might change is maybe one good pair of regular (bootcut jeans) and two pair of skinny, and a super skinny pair and also tan ballet flats and tan riding boots.  A good tan can go with black and brown.

Anniversary

So, yesterday was our 1 year anniversary and we celebrated with an evening at home and my cooking. I tell you, it was slightly more stressful than I had thought it would be. I rushed home from class and headed to the grocery store for a couple more things and I started on cooking this special meal.
On the menu:
Stuffed mushrooms
Ribeye steaks
Roasted vegetables
Dinner rolls
Wedding cake (of course)

I was thoroughly surprised with myself, everything turned out perfect. The roasted veggies actually turned out to be the best dish and it my first time making it! And thanks to my mom, the cake was as delicious as it was the first time. And of course I had to dress the table up a little with the flowers Jason had left on the table for me when I arrived home as the centerpiece.

Aren't they beautiful?? He knows I love this over a vase full of roses and the gladiolas absolutely made the arrangement, we had them everywhere at the wedding, they were my great-grandfathers favorite flower.

Table before food.  I think I did a pretty good job with my vintage candle holders, also used at the wedding I might add, along with the cake stand.

Those steaks were huge, and surprisingly, the least delicious part of the meal, everything else turned out so wonderfully!

This, my roasted vegetables, were definitely the highlight of the meal, absolutely delicious with potatoes, red and green peppers, asparagus, and mushrooms, with various seasonings. YUM.

And last but not least, our cake.  French Vanilla, with buttercream icing, and covered in white chocolate shavings.  It was absolutely just as delicious as it was the day we first ate it.

This was by far, the best 1st anniversary I could have ever asked for.  Not to mention the best husband a girl could ask for, he's the best!

Hi y'all

So, this is my first post, and also the beginning of my husband and mine's second year of marriage.  This first year was amazing.  Everyone always tells you it's the hardest, and I hope this holds true because that only means the coming years will be absolutely fabulous.  I'll try and post at least a picture every day and tell the stories and about events that come with no longer being a "newlywed".
